The Sunday Foundation is committed to improving education in Sierra Leone, a place where going to school is not a given. Since 2007, the foundation has been creating new opportunities for children by building schools and making education sustainably more accessible. Dozens of schools have already been realized. On this page, you can read more about their work and how BOSKA contributes to this mission.

Together for better education

BOSKA supports the Sunday Foundation in improving and making education more accessible in Sierra Leone. In recent years, we have gradually increased our financial contribution with one clear goal: to help build new schools. We will continue to support the Sunday Foundation so that even more children and residents have the opportunity to attend school, develop themselves and build their future. Here, children are given the opportunity to learn, grow and look ahead to the future.

With your purchase at BOSKA, you contribute to this special initiative. A portion of our revenue goes to this charity, allowing us to improve the lives of the people of Sierra Leone together.

What does the Sunday Foundation do?

Sierra Leone is still feeling the effects of a long civil war that lasted from 1991 to 2002. During this conflict, tens of thousands of people lost their lives and millions of residents were displaced. The war left deep scars on society. Many families lost their homes, their income and their prospects for the future.

For many children, this meant that school was no longer an option. Some worked in diamond mines to earn money, others ended up on the streets or in child prostitution. Children and young people with disabilities often had little to no access to education or work.

When Sander de Kramer witnessed this situation firsthand, he decided to establish the Sunday Foundation in 2007. Through the foundation, he aims to give children and young people renewed perspective by making education, guidance and new opportunities possible.

More than just a school

Since its founding, schools have been built in various locations across Sierra Leone, often in areas where no education had previously been available at all. These schools provide children with a safe place to learn and grow.

But education here means more than just a building. It also includes school uniforms, books and learning materials so that children can actually attend school. In addition, young people are supported with vocational training, enabling them to earn their own income in the future.

To make schools future-proof, agricultural projects are often linked to them. This allows teachers and their families to generate income as well when government salaries are delayed.

The goal is not dependency, but independence.

Microcredits for new opportunities

In addition to education, the Sunday Foundation also supports initiatives that help people become more economically independent. In various locations across Sierra Leone, groups of women receive microcredits to start small businesses. Working together, they invest in trade, agriculture, hair salons or other local enterprises.

With the income from these businesses, they can support their families and continue to grow their ventures. This creates new opportunities - not only for themselves, but also for other women in the community.

Contributing to opportunities together

We are proud to contribute to this and help build a future in which more children have the opportunity to attend school.

With every purchase of BOSKA Food Tools, you indirectly support this collaboration. Would you like to learn more or make a difference yourself? Then take a look at the website of the Sunday Foundation. Together, we help create new opportunities for children and communities in Sierra Leone.
