Stichting AAP works towards a future where exotic animals can live safely and receive the care they need. Through their work, they provide shelter and a new perspective for animals that truly need it. This mission shows how important it is to treat nature and the world around us with care.

On this page you can read more about the work of Stichting AAP and why this initiative is so valuable. You will also discover how BOSKA is involved and how we can contribute together to a positive future for animals in need.

What does Stichting AAP do?

Stichting AAP is committed to the rescue and protection of monkeys and other exotic animals that come from difficult situations. Many of these animals have become victims of illegal trade, were kept as pets or ended up in an environment that was not safe or suitable for them.

At AAP they get the space to recover, with professional care and a calm, protected living environment. The foundation stands for animal welfare, respect and a future in which this kind of animal suffering is prevented as much as possible.

A day that made an impression

At BOSKA we like to roll up our sleeves. A few times a year we volunteer as a team. That’s how several teams helped at Stichting AAP. The Management Team kicked things off, followed by other BOSKA teams. What we saw there made an impression. We saw with our own eyes how much impact the foundation’s work has on the lives of vulnerable animals.

We were especially moved by the care, attention and dedication with which the animals are looked after. As a team you immediately felt: this is something we want to contribute to. That involvement did not stop after that one day. We adopted chimpanzee Regina, who has now truly become part of the team. And we still proudly support the organisation today. What started as a day of volunteering grew into a committed partnership with a cause that truly means a lot to us.

Experience of BOSKA colleague: Lindie

“For our volunteer work we chose to spend a day helping at Stichting AAP with the whole team. A variety of tasks were waiting for us there: from cleaning monkey enclosures and trimming hedges to clearing leaves and removing reeds along the river.

We split up into groups and switched tasks during the break so everyone could experience different kinds of work. It was hard work, but above all there was a lot of laughter and enjoyment. It feels good to do a day of volunteering through BOSKA, and you get to visit places you normally wouldn’t easily go. All in all: a very fun day, a successful team outing and a great contribution to a good cause.”

Meet Regina: our adopted chimpanzee

After our day at Stichting AAP we wanted to contribute in a lasting way. That is why, as a team, we adopted a chimpanzee: Regina.

Regina was born in 1993 in Cameroon. Soon after, she was sold to a circus in Lithuania, where she had to perform tricks until she was twelve years old. When she started to resist the way she was treated, she was locked up in a basement. A lonely period followed. Luckily Regina was rescued and taken in by AAP. And despite everything, her playful and social character was still very much alive. She has now found her place in a group with other chimpanzees. Regina has been saved. But many animals are still living in difficult conditions. With our adoption we contribute to a life worthy of animals like her. And together we make a difference.
